Shipping and Returns
This page summarises the practical information regarding shipment of your order, delivery times and return procedures. For the full legal version, please refer to our General Terms and Conditions of Sale.
1. Shipping Method
All orders placed on rhein1905.ch are dispatched from Geneva by Swiss Post, the reference partner of Rhein 1905 SA.
For orders containing tobacco products delivered within Switzerland, the parcel is mandatorily handed over against signature with a visual age check by the carrier (Swiss Post "Handover 18+" service). The parcel will not be handed to a third party or left in a letterbox.
2. Preparation Lead Time
After confirmation of your payment, your order is prepared and handed to the carrier within 2 to 4 business days. You automatically receive an email with the tracking number as soon as Swiss Post takes charge of the shipment.
3. Indicative Delivery Times
Once the parcel has been handed over to the carrier, the following times are indicative and depend exclusively on the carrier, customs authorities and any logistical contingency:

4. Shipping Costs
Shipping costs are calculated automatically at the time of ordering, based on parcel weight, the chosen shipping method and the country of destination. The exact amount appears separately before final cart validation, allowing you to review it before any commitment.
5. Tracking Your Parcel
As soon as Swiss Post takes charge of your shipment, you receive an email containing the tracking number together with a direct link to the online tracking service. This number allows you to follow your parcel in real time and check the expected delivery date.
6. Age Verification at Delivery (Switzerland)
For orders containing tobacco products delivered within Switzerland, the carrier is required to:
- verify the recipient's majority by means of an official identity document;
- obtain the recipient's signature;
- refuse handover if the identity document cannot be presented or if the recipient does not meet the required age.
If handover is refused due to absence or non-conformity of the identity document, the parcel is returned to Rhein 1905 SA. In this case, the shipping costs initially paid are not refunded. A new shipment may be arranged at the Customer's request and expense.
7. International Deliveries
It is the Customer's responsibility to inform themselves, before any order, about the import rules and applicable duties in their country. Rhein 1905 SA cannot under any circumstance be held liable for the Customer's non-compliance with local legislation, nor for any customs costs that may result.
8. Damaged or Lost Parcel
In accordance with Art. 185 of the Swiss Code of Obligations and our GTCS (clause 7.3), the risks of loss or damage related to transport are transferred to the Customer when the parcel is handed over to the carrier. Any related claim must be addressed directly to Swiss Post, within the timeframes provided by the transport conditions.
Upon your request, Rhein 1905 SA provides you free of charge with a copy of the dispatch slip and any document useful for your file with the carrier.
This procedure does not apply to manufacturing defects or preparation errors attributable to Rhein 1905 SA, which are handled under the warranty (GTCS clause 11).
9. Return Policy — Summary

Return shipping costs are borne by the Customer, except in the case of a defective product or an error by Rhein 1905 SA. The risk of return transport is also borne by the Customer until effective receipt of the parcel by Rhein 1905 SA.
10. Return Procedure
- Announce your return by email to info@rhein1905.ch, indicating your order number and the reason.
- Wait for our validation. A reply will be provided within 2 business days, with precise instructions and the return address.
- Prepare the parcel in its original packaging, carefully protected, with the proof of purchase included.
- Ship the parcel via a tracked service (recommended). Keep the receipt until Rhein 1905 SA confirms receipt.
- Inspection. Upon receipt, we check the condition of the product and compliance with return conditions. You receive a confirmation email.
- Refund via the payment method initially used, within a reasonable period after validation of the return.
11. Defective Product
Products are inspected before dispatch. However, if a defect is observed upon arrival, contact us within 7 days of receipt, by email to info@rhein1905.ch, attaching photographs of the product and packaging.
Depending on the nature of the defect, Rhein 1905 SA will, at its discretion, propose a replacement, a store credit voucher of equivalent value, or a partial or full refund. Details are set out in clause 11 of our GTCS.
